Associate Professor Dr. Nguyễn Quang Ngoạn, Secretary of the university’s Party Committee, presided over the event, which examined strategies to improve English teaching and learning quality within the institution.
Experts stressed that teachers play a decisive role in advancing second-language education. Discussions centred on English-as-a-second-language (ESL) training models designed for the Vietnamese context, including required pedagogical orientations and classroom methodologies for lecturers.
Specialists also underscored that ESL educators must go beyond basic language instruction to include language analysis, assessment, and the integration of literature and multimodal skills. Identifying suitable teaching approaches was highlighted as essential to achieving the goals of the ESL model.
The event concluded with a range of practical proposals aimed at strengthening the university’s English-teacher training programmes, with organisers saying these recommendations will guide improvements to teaching and training quality in the near future.
