Gia Lai leader urges breakthrough reforms to elevate public healthcare quality

Gia Lai’s provincial leader on Friday called for breakthrough reforms and stronger professional ethics across the health sector as the province marked the 71st anniversary of Vietnamese Doctors’ Day.

During a visit to the Department of Health on February 27, Phạm Anh Tuấn, Chairman of the Gia Lai Provincial People’s Committee, praised the sector’s 2025 performance but urged medical units to adopt more innovative thinking to improve service quality and meet rising public healthcare demands.

Director Lê Quang Hùng reported that the Department had made notable progress in both administrative and professional areas. A key initiative was the introduction of a new framework titled “10 core values for civil servants, public employees and workers in the Gia Lai provincial health sector,” which will take effect in 2026. The values are designed to guide medical ethics, workplace culture and professional conduct, and will be integrated into annual performance evaluations for all units.

Mr. Phạm Anh Tuấn said the sector’s effective emergency response during recent natural disasters showed its strengthened operational capacity. Health teams mobilised rapidly to provide emergency care, treatment and disease prevention, while maintaining stable supplies of medicines and equipment and supporting affected communities.

He called on the sector to align its priorities with Resolution No. 72-NQ/TW, issued on September 9, 2025, which outlines breakthrough measures to enhance public health protection and care.

The chairman emphasised the need to reinforce grassroots healthcare, improve professional capacity at all levels and build a medical workforce that is both technically strong and ethically responsible.

Mr. Phạm Anh Tuấn also urged the adoption of digital transformation and wider use of science and technology in management and clinical activities. He said creativity, innovation and a strong sense of responsibility were essential to improving service quality and meeting public expectations.

Extending his greetings on Vietnamese Doctors’ Day, the province's Chairman expressed hope that doctors and healthcare staff would continue to uphold their professional traditions, maintain unity and dedication, and excel in their mission of protecting community health.
