The initiative forms part of Project 6, which focuses on preserving and promoting the fine traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities in connection with tourism development.
The project is implemented under the National Target Program for Socio-Economic Development in Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas for the 2021-2030 period.
The beneficiary communes are Ia Le, Ia Hrú, Tơ Tung, Kông Bơ La, Ya Hội, Cửu An, Ia Hiao, Chư A Thai, Ia Chía, Ia O, Ia Rbol and Ia Dom.
Each commune received one community bookshelf along with 295 newly published books, covering a wide range of genres such as literature, children’s books, short stories, agriculture and reference materials. The total number of books distributed under the project reached 3,540.
In addition to the book donations, Pleiku Library also provided basic training in library management for staff responsible for the bookcases at communal Culture and Social Affairs offices. The training aims to enhance the effectiveness of the project and help foster a sustainable reading culture among ethnic minority communities.
