The project, launched in Ia Nan commune, carries a total investment of more than VND 1,516 billion (approx. USD 60.6 million) and will build seven boarding schools in Ia Mơ, Ia Púch, Ia Pnôn, Ia Nan, Ia Dom, Ia Chia and Ia O communes. The schools will include 212 classrooms and serve about 7,420 students, mainly ethnic minority children in remote border areas.
According to provincial authorities, the construction follows central-level directives under Politburo Conclusion No. 81-TB/TW (July 18, 2025) and Government Resolution No. 298/NQ-CP (September 26, 2025) prioritizing investment in schools in border regions. Each facility will include academic buildings, dormitories, canteens, teachers’ housing and environmentally friendly technical infrastructure.
Deputy Prime Minister Hồ Quốc Dũng said the boarding school system is a “humanitarian policy with long-term strategic significance”, contributing to improved education quality, strengthened national defense and a stronger “people’s defense posture”.
He called on Gia Lai to ensure the project is completed on schedule with high construction quality and to prepare personnel and management resources so that the schools become “houses of knowledge, nurturing the future for children in border areas”.
Provincial Chairman Phạm Anh Tuấn thanked the Government for early support and said Gia Lai would closely coordinate among departments, localities and contractors to guarantee timely implementation and “ensure no student is left behind due to difficult circumstances.”
Ia Nan commune representatives, speaking for the beneficiary localities, pledged to coordinate with investors and contractors, encourage families to send children to school and prepare conditions for the schools to begin operating in the 2026–2027 academic year.
At the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Dũng and Chairman Tuấn presented support packages to families, students and teachers facing hardship in the seven communes.
Five policy beneficiary families received VND 5 million (USD 200) each; 20 disadvantaged students received VND 1.5 million (USD 60) each; and 12 teachers in difficult circumstances were given VND 2 million (USD 80) each.
