Three youth leaders from Gia Lai province were among 70 Vietnam Youth Federation officials honoured at the 2026 Nguyễn Chí Thanh Awards for work supporting local communities, expanding access to digital services and helping young people find jobs.

The federation’s Central Committee held the awards ceremony on October 11, recognising officials from across Vietnam. Gia Lai’s recipients were Nguyễn Thành Trung of Ia Pnôn commune, Ngô Hoàng Khánh Duy of Xuân An commune and Trương Công Sơn of Chư Pưh commune.

Their work spans welfare support, youth employment, historical education and practical help for residents using online public services.

In the border commune of Ia Pnôn, Trung, the commune’s Youth Union secretary and Vietnam Youth Federation president, has made support for residents, particularly children and young people, a priority.

Since the start of 2026, he has mobilised donations to distribute nearly 1,200 gifts worth a combined VND680 million (approximately US$27,200) to children, Youth Union members and other residents. He has also collected more than 10,000 sets of clothing for people facing hardship.

The commune’s Youth Union has helped 45 people find jobs with production teams under Corps 15 and Truong Hai Group JSC. Working with Quy Nhon University’s Youth Union, it also provided livelihood support worth VND5 million (approximately US$200) to a member in Chan village.

Trung’s organisation coordinated with the provincial Border Guard Command and Ia Pnôn Border Guard Station on a rural road lighting project in Triêl village.

It also runs activities bringing young people together and organises “Green Sunday” campaigns to collect waste, clean community spaces and maintain roadside trees.

Trung said 15 years of Youth Union work had helped him understand members’ concerns and develop activities suited to young people’s needs and local conditions.

In Xuân An, Duy, the commune’s deputy Youth Union secretary and federation president, has combined historical education with digital support for residents and young entrepreneurs.

During 2026, he and local Youth Union members organised visits and gifts for families entitled to social benefits and people recognised for contributions to the revolution. They also helped maintain the local martyrs’ cemetery.

His historical education activities have included flag-raising ceremonies, sessions on Communist Party of Vietnam history and events supporting the “Youth Towards the 14th National Party Congress” movement. He also led the digitisation of the An Nông Massacre historical site in Đại Hữu hamlet.

As part of the “Youth Pioneering Digital Transformation” movement, Duy and Youth Union members have helped residents use level 2 electronic identification accounts, online public services and personal digital signatures.

They have also supported land data standardisation and promoted cashless payments along local roads.

For young entrepreneurs, the commune’s Youth Union has focused on livestream selling skills, brand development and access to preferential loans. Duy said young people needed practical skills and the ability to use technology to market and sell products, alongside access to capital.

He described the award as encouragement to continue contributing to youth organisations and community activities.

In Chư Pưh, Sơn, the commune federation’s vice president, has prioritised helping residents access digital services.

Through the community digital technology team, he has helped more than 500 residents install and use electronic identification accounts and access features on the VNeID and iGiaLai digital citizen apps during 2026.

He has also assisted more than 380 people with first-time land registration and declarations.

Alongside that work, Sơn mobilised 80 Youth Union members to take part in voluntary blood donation. He has personally donated blood 10 times.

He has also helped organise environmental clean-ups and encouraged young people to plant nearly 800 trees along village roads.

Chư Pưh Youth Union secretary Lữ Quốc Việt said Sơn’s practical work had helped improve the federation’s activities and encourage volunteering and community responsibility among young members.
