Gia Lai’s OCOP showcase draws crowds, boosts local trade at National Tourism Year opening

A showcase of distinctive OCOP (One Commune One Product) goods in Gia Lai province drew strong visitor interest and business engagement during the opening week of National Tourism Year - Gia Lai 2026, helping stimulate consumption and promote local brands.

Held from March 27 to 29 at Nguyen Tat Thanh Square in Quy Nhon Ward, the event featured 20 booths displaying a wide range of certified OCOP products from communes and wards across the province.

Organisers said the exhibition created opportunities for producers to connect with both domestic and international consumers while supporting local economic growth.

The booths attracted a steady stream of visitors, many of whom explored product origins and production processes before making purchases. All showcased items met OCOP standards of three stars or higher, ensuring quality and food safety.

Lưu Thái Cầu, owner of Thái An Seafood Processing Facility in Đề Gi commune, said his team introduced 28 OCOP products at the event, including fish sauce, rice paper, cereal powder, honey, soursop tea, dried shredded pork, essential oils and turmeric starch. “Each day, our booth welcomes hundreds of visitors. Many customers have proactively connected with us to place orders after trying the products”, he said.

Consumers expressed confidence in the quality of the goods on offer. Nguyễn Thị Yến Nhi, a local resident of Bắc Quy Nhon Ward, said she felt assured purchasing OCOP-certified products for her family.

Coffee stalls emerged as a highlight, drawing crowds with on-site tastings. Siu Sắt, who operates the Jrai Ialy coffee booth in Ia Phí commune, said he brought 200kg of coffee beans and finished products to the exhibition. He noted the event provided valuable opportunities to meet partners and expand market access.

For tourists, the exhibition became a convenient stop to purchase local specialties. Phạm Thế Toàn, a visitor from Hanoi, said the event allowed his family to buy meaningful gifts while visiting Quy Nhon during the tourism year launch.

The exhibition featured a diverse selection of products, including bird’s nest, traditional fish sauce, dried seafood, cashew nuts, macadamia nuts, honey and coffee. Organisers arranged booths with clear product origins and appealing packaging to enhance the consumer experience.

Staff at each booth provided detailed guidance on product use and production methods, contributing to positive visitor experiences and reinforcing Gia Lai’s reputation for hospitality.

Đinh Lê Tuấn Anh, who manages a booth showcasing herbal salt, incense and cinnamon cones from An Lão commune, said the exhibition helped promote local specialties while enabling businesses to build partnerships and expand markets.

As part of a broader programme of cultural and artistic activities, the OCOP showcase has become a focal point of the National Tourism Year – Gia Lai 2026 opening events.

Organisers said the initiative is encouraging producers to improve quality, seek new partnerships and adapt to market demand, supporting the long-term development and integration of Gia Lai’s agricultural products.
