Mr. Hương began working at the school in 2008 after graduating with a degree in History and Youth Union Work. Over the years, he has taken on multiple roles, from Head of the Young Pioneer Organization to Youth Union leader, building a reputation for innovation and close engagement with students, many of whom come from ethnic minority backgrounds facing difficult living conditions.
Early in his tenure, he encountered major challenges, including limited funding for extracurricular activities, low parental engagement, and students lacking confidence. Rather than retreat, he introduced flexible, locally adapted models to create a more inclusive and supportive school environment.
Among his most notable initiatives is a free martial arts class he personally leads twice a week, providing students with structured extracurricular activities that promote discipline, health, and stronger ties to the school. Since the 2012–2013 academic year, he has also implemented the “Red Scarf Chicken Coop” and “Our Vegetable Garden” models, enabling the Youth Union to raise funds independently while teaching students practical labor skills, thrift, and collective responsibility.
Through consistent organization of extracurricular programs, traditional games, and exchanges with other Youth Unions, Mr. Hương has helped students become more confident and proactive. For many consecutive years, the school’s Youth Union has ranked among the top performers in youth and children’s movements in the former Đak Pơ District.
In the classroom, Mr. Hương is recognized as a dynamic and creative history teacher. He integrates field trips to historical sites, information technology, illustrative videos, role-playing, and modern teaching tools to make lessons more engaging. His approach has helped spark students’ interest in history and pride in local and national heritage. Since 2011, the school’s history team has consistently won district and provincial awards.
School leaders and colleagues credit him with improving student attendance and fostering a collaborative professional environment. He has received numerous honors, including repeated recognition as an outstanding teacher at district and provincial levels, national-level certification as a Youth Union coach, and the “Cánh én hồng” (Pink Swallow) Award in 2023 for exemplary Youth Union leadership.
Appointed Vice Principal in February 2025, Mr. Hương now focuses on strategic leadership while remaining closely connected to students and teachers. He advocates flexible, student-centered management, encourages innovative teaching methods tailored to local conditions, and promotes the use of information technology and artificial intelligence to support learning.
He also prioritizes ensuring that students have the basic conditions to attend school, maintaining support models mobilized by the Youth Union, expanding sports and cultural activities, and strengthening cooperation among schools, families, and local authorities to reduce dropout rates.
For Mr. Trương Công Hương, the measure of more than 15 years at Kim Đồng Primary and Secondary School lies not in titles, but in the progress and resilience of students in a challenging region. His guiding principle remains unchanged: place students at the center and ensure that no child is left behind.
