(GLO) – Gia Lai will receive nearly VND 3.2 trillion ($127 million) in 2025 to implement national target programs, according to the Office for New Rural Development Coordination. The funding includes allocations from both central and provincial budgets.

Of the total, more than VND 2.66 trillion ($106 million) will come from the central government, while the remainder will be provided by the provincial budget as counterpart funds.

The capital is earmarked for three major initiatives: new rural development, sustainable poverty reduction, and socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas.

The largest share will go to the ethnic minority and mountainous development program, followed by new rural development and poverty reduction.

As of the end of August 2025, the overall disbursement rate in Gia Lai reached about 30%.

The New Rural Development Program recorded the highest rate at over 53%, while the sustainable poverty reduction program posted the lowest at around 14%.

The program for ethnic minority and mountainous regions stood at more than 24%.

Phan Thanh Tùng, Deputy Chief of the provincial coordination office, stressed that accelerating disbursement is vital to ensure effective use of resources.

Local authorities have been instructed to speed up implementation and resolve bottlenecks, particularly in slower-moving projects.

Following administrative reorganization, Gia Lai now has 110 communes implementing the new rural development program.

Of these, 47 communes (42.7%) meet the basic new rural standards, but only three (6.4%) qualify for advanced standards.

Under new regulations issued by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and directives from the Gia Lai Provincial People’s Committee, communes must urgently reassess their rural development status and complete documentation for recognition under Decision No. 18/2022/QĐ-TTg and Decree No. 131/2025/NĐ-CP. However, no commune has yet submitted applications for re-recognition.
