The province’s Youth Union branches launched simultaneous activities demonstrating a strong focus on environmental protection, social welfare and volunteerism.
At the Tay Son Thuong Dao Historical Site, the provincial Youth Union opened the “Forever Grateful to Uncle Ho” Tree Planting Festival, where leaders and members planted 40 Dalbergia tonkinensis trees.
Provincial Youth Union Secretary Pham Hong Hiep said the annual movement aims to reinforce climate action and individual responsibility. He called on participants to “care for and nurture every tree planted today.”
Across the province, Youth Union branches set a target of planting 150,000 trees this year. In Gia Lai Province, local units reported strong engagement, particularly in Cat Tien Commune, where members planted 100 Hopea odorata trees at Cat Tien Secondary School as part of a youth project.
Bui Le Khanh, Secretary of the Provincial People’s Committee Youth Union, said planting in schools helps build early environmental awareness and long-term stewardship.
The launch of Youth Month also included major welfare initiatives. The Provincial Youth Union awarded 180 gifts worth VND 121 million (USD 4,850) to policy beneficiary families, union members, disadvantaged youth and young people preparing for military enlistment. It also distributed 300 relief packages worth VND 390 million (USD 15,630) to residents affected by storms and floods.
Additional donations included a children’s playground and 500 red scarves valued at VND 50 million (USD 2,000) for Vo Thi Sau Primary School.
The Provincial Young Entrepreneurs Association funded two “Lighting Up the Homeland” projects worth VND 100 million (USD 4,010) each for Youth Unions in Quang Ngai and Dak Lak. Sponsor representative Nguyen Van Hung said the lighting systems would improve rural safety and aid local development.
At Cat Tien Secondary School, 50 disadvantaged students received notebooks and cash gifts valued at more than VND 300,000 (USD 12) each, sponsored by BIDV Binh Dinh Youth Union and Thich 24h Pharmaceutical and Medical Equipment Co., Ltd.
Two outstanding students received computers worth VND 6 million (USD 240) each. One of them, sixth-grader Tran Thi Khanh Giang, said the gift would greatly support her studies and relieve pressure on her family.
Youth Month activities also included a “Back to the Roots” journey at the Nguyen Trung Truc Temple, a science engagement program by the Department of Science and Technology Youth Union, and legal education on preventing school violence by the Department of Justice Youth Branch.
At the grassroots level, Youth Unions carried out community-driven actions such as awarding student support gifts, cleaning waste “black spots” and launching a 15-member Youth Team Supporting Election Work for the upcoming 16th National Assembly and People’s Council elections. The team will assist with voter guidance, logistics, security and public awareness efforts.
Ho Thi Nhu Suong, Secretary of the Canh Vinh Commune Youth Union, said the initiative underscores the pioneering role of young people in key political and civic processes.
On February 28, the An Khe Ward Youth Union launched a youth project to install two environmental protection awareness boards along Tran Hung Dao Street; simultaneously, they organized a general clean-up to address local waste “black spots.”
The activity attracted the enthusiastic participation of 170 Youth Union members, all demonstrating a spirit of volunteerism and community service. Members collected waste, cleared brush, and unclogged drains, helping to make the street greener, cleaner, and more beautiful, and enhancing the urban landscape.
This is a practical activity in response to Youth Month 2026, highlighting the role and responsibility of young people in building a more civilized and modern An Khe Ward.
In the coming period, the An Khe Ward Youth Union will continue to maintain and expand youth models and initiatives linked to environmental protection and urban development, contributing to the effective implementation of local socio-economic development goals.
