The province is intensifying efforts to achieve its 2026 Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) growth target of 10.2%, with local authorities accelerating investment projects, expanding production and strengthening key economic sectors during the first five months of the year.

Several localities have reported positive growth results after implementing development strategies tailored to local conditions and focused on major growth drivers.

Đak Rong Commune, a disadvantaged Region III locality, recorded product value growth of 10.41% during the first five months of 2026. The services sector expanded by 13%, while industry and construction grew by 9.04%.

Mã Văn Tình, Chairman of the Đak Rong Commune People’s Committee, said the commune’s growth strategy closely follows provincial targets, with services and industry-construction identified as the principal engines of economic expansion.

Industry and construction have played a central role in the commune’s performance. This year, the Đak Ble Hydropower Plant increased its capacity from 5 MW to 6.5 MW.

Several investment projects are also being implemented, including clean coffee cultivation, production and processing, and high-tech agriculture projects by Mê Trang Coffee Group JSC; Ngọc Linh ginseng and under-forest medicinal plant cultivation projects by Trường Sinh International Science Development Co., Ltd.; and a medicinal herb cultivation and eco-tourism development project by Quang Huy Medicinal Herbs JSC.

In Sơn Lang Commune, local authorities have identified high-tech agriculture, under-forest medicinal herb cultivation and eco-tourism as strategic sectors to support double-digit growth in 2026.

Alongside developing tourism linked to the Kon Chư Răng Nature Reserve, K50 Waterfall and the cultural heritage of ethnic minority communities, the commune is expanding raw material areas to support processing industries.

Farmers are cultivating 2,377 hectares of coffee, 1,426 hectares of macadamia and 524 hectares of fruit trees to supply local processing facilities. Livestock production is also being expanded, with more than 48,000 cattle and nearly 49,000 poultry.

Nguyễn Mạnh Tuyển, Chairman of the Sơn Lang Commune People’s Committee, said the commune’s product value growth during the first five months of the year was estimated at 8.43%, exceeding the provincial target of 7.98% and reaching 105.64% of the annual plan. Industry and construction increased by 12.61%, while services rose by 10.99%.

In Bình Định Ward, growth has surpassed 8.03% under the provincial development scenario. According to Chairman Lê Quốc Cường, the ward is accelerating implementation of key projects to achieve its assigned growth target of more than 10% this year.

The ward has attracted eight investors for real estate, commercial and service developments, including six residential and mixed-use urban projects currently under implementation. A land auction valued at more than VND350 billion (approximately US$13.4 million) is scheduled for June 19.

During inspections of socio-economic development plans and key tasks for 2026, Provincial People’s Committee Chairman Phạm Anh Tuấn stressed that governance reform at the grassroots level would be critical to achieving double-digit growth throughout 2026 and the 2026–2030 period.

He called on local authorities to shift from a management-focused approach to one centred on serving and supporting citizens and businesses, while strengthening accountability among commune- and ward-level leaders.

Under the newly operational two-tier local government model, commune authorities are expected to play a broader role in driving local economic development in addition to carrying out administrative responsibilities.

The provincial leadership also urged localities to prioritise investment in strategic projects rather than dispersing resources, while carrying out investment preparation and site clearance simultaneously to accelerate project delivery.

Authorities were instructed to establish large-scale raw material zones and strengthen cooperation between businesses and local communities in technology transfer and financing.

Efforts to develop brands, assign planting area codes and improve product traceability were also highlighted as measures to increase agricultural value and secure stable markets.

The provincial chairman further directed local authorities to review and classify projects facing land, procedural or planning obstacles in order to accelerate solutions and unlock investment resources.

When attracting major investors, local governments must demonstrate a long-term commitment to supporting project implementation, he said.

Localities were also urged to continuously update growth scenarios, coordinate closely with provincial departments and promptly address bottlenecks to maintain momentum toward the province’s double-digit growth objective.
