The province recorded more than 848,000 tourist arrivals, up 16% from the previous year, including 117,000 overnight visitors, a 25.2% increase. Tourism revenue, reported at 900 billion VND (approx. USD 36.3 million), was driven by high footfall at local attractions such as Nguyễn Tất Thành Square, Đại Đoàn Kết Square, Biển Hồ, and various cultural and historical sites.
Provincial authorities said strengthened security measures ensured political stability and social order. Police, military and militia units maintained continuous patrols throughout the holiday.
Gia Lai’s preparations included urban beautification, environmental sanitation and extensive public decoration at major squares and streets. Zodiac mascots for the Bính Ngọ year were installed at Nguyễn Tất Thành Square and Đại Đoàn Kết Square.
The province hosted a large cultural programme featuring performances and a fireworks show that drew significant crowds. Districts and communes organised their own Tet events, including flower exhibitions, folk games, sporting competitions, boat races and the Chợ Gò Festival, contributing to a lively holiday atmosphere.
Authorities emphasised efforts to ensure support reached disadvantaged communities. More than 60,000 gifts, valued at over 35 billion VND (approx. USD 1.41 million), were distributed by provincial and local leaders to remote communes, Tet-duty units, policy families and Vietnamese Heroic Mothers.
Localities also delivered State President gifts to over 53,000 revolution contributors worth 16.2 billion VND (approx. USD 652,000). Additional assistance supported 18,000 poor households and 38,000 near-poor households, with total funding exceeding 38 billion VND (approx. USD 1.53 million).
During Tet, the province recorded 18 traffic accidents, resulting in 13 deaths and 7 injuries, a slight decrease in incidents and a reduction of 14 injuries compared with the previous year. Authorities also handled 14 criminal cases, including six involving intentional injury.
At the meeting, leaders directed all departments and localities to immediately resume work to avoid delays in implementing 2026 socio-economic plans. Most enterprises had allowed workers to take leave from 14 February and resumed operations on 23 February.
Secretary Thái Đại Ngọc highlighted the successful Tet celebrations and the significant tourist influx, calling it a positive start to the year. He urged urgent preparations for the upcoming elections of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils for the 2026-2031 term, as well as the 2026 military conscription drive.
Chairman Phạm Anh Tuấn instructed agencies to closely coordinate in executing socio-economic tasks, following Government Resolution No. 01/NQ-CP. He called for accelerated investment and construction from the start of the year, prioritising key projects and removing obstacles for businesses to maintain industrial production growth.
Authorities will also focus on boosting trade, services and tourism, particularly activities linked to National Tourism Year 2026. Monthly budget revenue plans will be enforced, especially land-use fee collection, while public investment disbursement will be expedited.
