Gia Lai inaugurates key roads to boost connectivity and growth

(GLO) – Gia Lai province inaugurated two major transport projects on September 30, aimed at enhancing connectivity with its coastal road network and driving socio-economic growth.

The projects include the bypass road of provincial road 633, linking Nui Ghenh with provincial road 639, and the extended Dien Bien Phu road leading to the Diem Van urban area. Both were financed by the provincial budget.

The 3.5-kilometer bypass road of provincial road 633, built to grade-III plain road standards with a speed limit of 80 km/h, features a 20.5-meter roadbed and a 17.5-meter asphalt surface accommodating four lanes. The project cost more than VND 336 billion (USD 13.3 million). Local residents supported the initiative, with many donating land for its construction.

The extended Dien Bien Phu road, nearly 1.6 kilometers long, connects national Highway 19 to the Diem Van urban area.

Built to urban standards with four lanes, a 20.5-meter roadbed, traffic safety systems, lighting, and landscaping, it cost VND 519 billion (USD 20.6 million).

Officials hailed the projects as vital to easing traffic, facilitating trade, and opening new opportunities in urban development, services, and tourism.

“With the completion of this project, a vital transport route has been established, serving socio-economic development of Quy Nhon Dong Ward, Tuy Phuoc Commune, and Gia Lai as a whole,” said Tran Viet Quang, Chairman of Quy Nhon Dong Ward People’s Committee.

Residents expressed optimism. “From now on, travel will be much smoother, and trade more convenient,” said Dinh Phuoc Trung, head of Ngai An Hamlet.

These projects form part of a broader infrastructure push. Between 2021 and 2025, Gia Lai has invested more than VND 10 trillion (USD 397 million) in strategic transport works, including the 39-kilometer Cat Tien-My Thanh-Lai Giang-Thien Chanh coastal road (VND 2,500 billion / USD 99.2 million) and the 19.45-kilometer route linking National Highway 19 with the Becamex VSIP Binh Dinh Industrial Complex (VND 1,170 billion / USD 46.4 million).

Numerous key infrastructure projects have been implemented, dramatically transforming the province’s appearance and connectivity.

According to officials, Gia Lai’s 121-kilometer coastal road, divided into seven segments, is being completed in phases to maximize the province’s marine economy potential while strengthening defense and security. Three segments have already been completed.
