Mr. Pham Anh Tuan, Chairman of the Gia Lai Provincial People’s Committee, inspected the projects on July 12, accompanied by representatives of provincial departments, agencies and local authorities.
The inspection covered the expansion and renovation of the Dong Da-Hoa Lu five-way intersection; the Km00-Km22 section of Component 1 of the Quy Nhon-Pleiku Expressway; Runway No. 2 and associated facilities at Phu Cat Airport; and the Cat Tien-Diem Van coastal road.
According to the Provincial Project Management Board for Transport and Civil Works, the project investor, site clearance and construction have recently met or exceeded scheduled targets.

Mr. Phạm Anh Tuấn ordered authorities to complete site clearance for the entire Km00-Km22 section of the Quy Nhon-Pleiku Expressway by Aug. 15, 2026. Contractor consortiums were instructed to deploy more machinery and workers and maintain continuous construction under a “three shifts, four crews” arrangement, with the goal of opening the entire route to technical traffic by the end of 2027.
The 125-km expressway is designed with four lanes and a 24.75-metre-wide roadbed. It has a total investment of more than VND 43.7 trillion (about $1.68 billion), funded by the state budget, and is scheduled for implementation from 2025 to 2029.
The project is divided into three components, with Components 1 and 3 beginning construction at the end of 2025.
At construction package XL.01, covering Km00 to Km12+00, contractors have deployed 25 construction teams, with completed work valued at about VND 110.5 billion ($4.25 million). At package XL.02, from Km12+000 to Km22+000, 15 teams are working, with completed construction valued at approximately VND 81.7 billion ($3.14 million).

At Phu Cat Airport, Mr. Phạm Anh Tuấn instructed the investor to closely monitor construction of Runway No. 2 and associated facilities and ensure the project remains on schedule.
Earthwork has reached about 4.15 million cubic metres, with 950,000 cubic metres remaining. The crushed-stone sub-base has been completed along the full 3,048-metre length, while M350 cement concrete has been laid over 1,750 metres.
Concrete work on the runway and taxiway is expected to be completed by July 25, while aviation equipment, including lighting and instrument landing systems, is scheduled for installation by July 30. The project is targeting operational readiness before Sept. 15, 2026.

Tuan also called for strict control of construction schedules and quality. He instructed the investor to coordinate with aviation and airport infrastructure authorities to complete the documentation and procedures required for acceptance, handover and commercial operation of Runway No. 2 after Sept. 15, 2026.
For the Cat Tien-Diem Van coastal road, the provincial chairman ordered contractors to maximize the deployment of equipment and workers and take advantage of favorable weather to maintain synchronized and continuous construction. He also emphasized construction quality, occupational safety and environmental sanitation, with the project targeted to enter operation by October 2026.
The coastal road is more than 13.5 km long, has a roadbed wider than 20.5 metres and carries a total investment of more than VND 2.674 trillion ($102.85 million).

Contractors have mobilized about 131 workers and 52 major pieces of equipment, with 21 construction teams deployed along the route.
For Package No. 01, covering Km0+160 to Km5+050, asphalt paving is targeted for completion in July 2026, with the package scheduled to be finished by October. Package No. 02, from Km5+050 to Km13+581, is also expected to complete asphalt paving in July, with the entire package due for completion in August 2026.
At the Dong Da-Hoa Lu intersection project, which has a total investment of VND 513 billion ($19.73 million) and is scheduled for implementation from 2025 to 2029, authorities have completed inventories for all 33 affected households and four organizations.
Land-origin verification and compensation plans have been prepared for 25 households and all four organizations. The Provincial People’s Committee has approved the investment project, while construction design approval and contractor selection procedures are expected to be completed in early August 2026.
During the inspection, Mr. Phạm Anh Tuấn received detailed reports from project investors, contractors and local authorities on construction and site clearance, as well as commitments on completion deadlines for individual packages.
He praised the coordination among project investors, local authorities and contractors in resolving difficulties and accelerating implementation, saying progress across the construction packages had improved and was meeting planned requirements.
Mr. Phạm Anh Tuấn said the projects were important for strengthening regional connectivity, promoting trade and supporting Gia Lai’s socio-economic development. He called on provincial departments, agencies, local authorities and project investors to continue resolving emerging obstacles and accelerate construction to meet the established deadlines.
